Continuous Galvanising Line

IIL has two galvanising lines at Kalmeshwar unit.  Cold Rolled coils constitute the raw material for CGL unit.  The process structure is briefed below.

The CR coils directly from 6 Hi/4 Hi mills are transferred to CGL lines.
The coils passes through various process to remove defects, etc. CGL being a continuous line, the coils passed through Looper.  Continuous annealing of coils is taken place on in-line annealing furnace to clean the coils and anneal the coil to provide achieve desired hardness.  The temperature of strip in this pre-heating oxidising furnace would be between 460 to 480 C.

After that the coil is passed through Zinc pot where Zinc coating is carried out. Zinc and Antimony of highest purity are used for coating sheets in a technologically advanced Hot-dip process.  The bath temperature would be 440 to 460 C.  This operation is performed at a precise temperature set up.  Due care is taken for  pretreatment of substrate on which Zinc coating takes place and consequently increases the life and performance of the galvanized sheets.  The percentage of Al, Sb and Sn in the batch would be 2 to 3%, 0.35 to 0.45% and 0.30 to 0.40%, respectively.

Zinc coated coils thus passed through Chromate solution to safe guard the coils from white rusting and other atmosphere reaction, which further passes through Tension Leveller to improve the shape of product and give perfect flatness.  The chromic acid concentration shall be 20 to 25 gm/ltr with a temperature of 40 to 45 C.

At the exit, coils are coiled.  These total  process are completed in in-line in the continuous line and the line speed adjusted with strip guage.

The total installed production capacity of CGL-1 and CGL-2 are 96488 MT/annum and 161054 MT/annum, respectively.

  • OFF-LINE CUTTING
Off-line Cutting line is provided to cut the sheet as per desired length.
  • CORRUGATION MACHINE
The galvanised sheets are corrugated in Corrugation Machine as per required dimensions.
